I invested on properties because in my mind, I wanted to earn income on the side to supplement my income from employment. I have been into renting out properties for two and a half years now but those past years left a really big hole in my wallet. And rather than feeling the payback and return on investment, I feel that the investment is becoming more of an expense especially after having careless tenants who are not conscientious about keeping the apartments clean and are not gentle in handling my furniture. I do ask my potential tenants to fill up application forms and I do make them go through the usual rigorous credit and background check before I admit them to renting any of my properties but you can’t really screen behavior through those background checks. No matter what you do to check, you really cannot predict whether your tenant will mess up your apartment or if they will run away from you and leave you with the costs of cleaning their mess up. The renting business has not been profitable for me until I realized I needed to pass on the risk to someone else. Am I willing to pay for it? After all the unexpected costs I have to cover, I thought that getting a Landlords Insurance would be a worthwhile investment. You would think that the renters insurance of my tenants should cover all those costs, but if you’ve had tenants like mine who intentionally miss out on paying their rent insurance and run away from you, you’ll definitely see the importance of Landlord Insurance the way I do now. Needless to say, Landlords like me face risks too, and thus need much more protection from losses than renters because unlike them, we cannot run away from our own properties.

I consider playing wii a good form of exercise. I am not the most fit of people so whenever I get the chance to do some physical activity that requires me to move, I grab the opportunity. UPGRADING MY RESTAURANT
My father is a very good cook and his expertise is Filipino food. Kare-kare, mechado, menudo, afritada, chicken curry, dinuguan, pancit… name it, he can serve any viand to a tee. That is why when I was able to save enough money to start-up a business, I asked my dad to be the head chef of my small restaurant. He agreed at once because since he retired two years ago from being a sales manager, he’s feeling restless for not being used to staying at home and doing nothing the whole day. I was able to make use of our unused vacant lot at the back of our house. Neighbors loved the food that my father serves that’s why I was able to get my ROI in just 4 months. Not only that, thanks to word of mouth, more customers came to our restaurant each day. And because of this, I thought of expanding and renovating my restaurant. I would want to change the table and chairs to more elegant ones. Also, I would want to add restaurant booths for a more comfortable seating.
